But the brutal and proud youth who is destined to become their next leader sees her differences as a threat to his authority. I am way hotter than people give me credit for, probably.
Iza and Creb are both fantastic characters, they have taken in a young child despite her differences and do their best to love her and keep her safe. And a few times it got pushed back on a shelf and I forgot I owned it and that it existed at all. I did eventually pick it up on one of my many book hauls. This is just one more infraction, in a long list of them, that fuels the hatred Broud, the leader’s son, feels for Ayla. To her credit, Auel was the first writer in the genre to attempt it on a large scale though Jack London and William Golding each wrote single novels set in prehistoryand to popularize it sufficiently to create a cavermario niche and a subgenre tradition that other writers have begun to develop.
A truly amazing, captivating and fascinating series that will stay at the very top of my all time favourites list. Konezney mentioned to my mother upon seeing me read this book in school – but it was my very first emotional connection to fictional characters.
Besides the vibrant setting, the characters were detailed and intricate. I’ll never forget the first time I read this book. Cavernariio is an amazing story and series. Fortunately, there were not TOO many of these scenes, but there were enough to be noteworthy.
Ayla is such a well-developed protagonist. I have read at least part of the second in the series, maybe all of it. It was long and maybe just a little too descriptive at times She now grows up in a very difficult situation which ends up sort of – modern man vs prehistoric man.
How old should you be to read this book?
Again, this happens to Ayla quite a bit, in a rather uncomfortable rape montage nothing is too graphic, however. You will not be disappointed. She is an inquisitive, logical tall and blond while her new family is survival oriented, ingrained, short and squat.
Oh, if only the internet had existed in high school and I’d had this website, Rl would remember! For me, when it comes to rating what I deem to be Historical Fiction, 5 stars are a rarity. Does she find a mate?
This story was a Wow! I found myself gripping the steering wheel in my car as I listened to her struggle for survival. As a lover of the Historical Fiction genre, a book about prehistory is the ultimate. What do you imagine happened to Durc after Ayla left?

Ayla’s story isn’t without struggle cavernrio difficulty, but it also contains strength and love and a ferocity that I absolutely adore. To view it, click here. To them, blond, blue-eyed Ayla looks peculiar and ugly–she is one of the Others, those who have moved into their ancient homeland; but Iza cannot leave the girl to die and takes her with them.
Clan of the Cave Bear had the power to make me absolutely livid, without making me angry at the cavwrnario or the book itself. Auel 5 26 Jul 09, It’s very fortunate for Ayla that these are the kind people she ends up with.
From time to time the conversation felt too modern. The story watches this outsider come of age and explores how her logical and creative mind allows her to integrate herself with a different people The Good The book contains a minimal amount of dialogue.
I can assure you you’ll never think of Neanderthals in the same way after getting to know the members of the Clan, each of them are so realistic it feels like you have actually met them.
There is a lot more to it in there, and I found the book fascinating. I read it a long oxo ago, I guess I forgot about those.
El Clan del Oso Cavernario by Jean M. Auel (5 star ratings)
You still don’t understand, do you? Damn, I wish I’d known while reading this that it would make it onto that really short list of books I wish I could read again for the first time.
It’s so interesting to read about the clan’s reasoning for dividing the gender roles so clearly. Jean Auel is masterful in her ability to create a story that has you transported in time and live vicariously in Ayla’s world. So of course it’s full of all kinds of horrible treatment of women, and of course it’s going to make a modern reader a bit frustrated, but as in my case completely fascinate them as well.
