Some of the subject matter that is exposed is very unpleasant, such as sadistic incest. They’re pretty good, but not something that draws me in like some other books I’ve read.

Do yourself a favor and be sure to pick this one up! Dave, of course, figures it all out, with the reluctant support of his wife, but at a cost. This is the second time I have attempted to read this book. It was a startling and thrilling and unsettling book.

Reluctantly drawn in, Dave is quickly buffeted by a series of revelations that transform the bizarrely monstrous into the monstrously bizarre. No, I know I’d like him, and I’d leave him alone when he wanted to be left alone.
Verdon’s writing, which started out very good, has improved dramatically from his first book to this next one – the transitioning is smoother, the details are maintained in a more orderly fashion, and the writing overall has a higher quality. We do have some nasty bad guys here, and you can figure out mostly what the goings on are, but the ending is dfscargar solid.
Watching the way Dave’s first case impacted their relationship was verfon, but watching the same story a second time was less entertaining. The characters are intriguing and the crimes are challenging. Does every book have to be psycho serial killers?
